I really had to hit the ground running when I started working here in the Community Development office two years ago. Although I have more than ten years experience working with municipalities, I had to get up to speed and learn the different codes and ordinances which apply specifically to the City of Brandon. My co-workers have been very helpful and gracious in answering my hundreds of questions.
As a building inspector for residential as well as commercial properties, I must ensure that builders and contractors comply with the set standards of the building codes and ordinances adopted by the City of Brandon. In doing so, the end product is having provided homeowners and business owners a sense of well-being that their homes and businesses are constructed with emphasis on safety as well as quality. These features are attractive to prospective property owners and new residents to Brandon.
For the future I wish to continue building relationships with the contractors, builders and individuals whom we in this department are sworn to protect simply by doing our job to the best of our ability. By working together we can help to provide the citizens of Brandon an improved quality of life.
