Official Parade Rules:

 

  1. PLEASE NOTE THAT TRAILERS FOR FLOATS MAY NOT EXCEED 40 FEET IN LENGTH         

AND THAT NO PORTION OF ANY ENTRY, INCLUDING COSTUMES, MAY EXCEED 12 FEET IN HEIGHT.  THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

  1. Parade entry registration shall only be accepting in writing, via this form, the 2009 Brandon Christmas Parade Float Registration Form. Applications are due no later than November 23, 2009.
  2. All floats must be lined up at the Brandon Middle School (S. College Street) at 6:00pm. Judging will begin at 6:15pm.
  3. A member of the parade committee will line floats in a first come, first serve basis or in any order they deem necessary.  Committee members will have the authority to remove any unit (entry) causing a delay, violating official parade rules, or failing to cooperate.
  4. All floats must correspond with parade theme to be considered for judging.
  5. No participants can walk in parade, except members of the Brandon High School Band. Everyone must ride on a float or in a vehicle.
  6. No Mr. or Mrs. Santa Claus in the parade. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be provided by the City of Brandon Parade Committee only.
  7. Candy may be SAFELY given or tossed to the parade spectators.
  8. Any characters (Mickey Mouse, Rudolf, etc) that are going to be in the parade need to be approved by the Parade Committee. Please include on registration form.
  9. Please provide signage, visible on both sides of unit, with organization’s name or title.  Signs must be in good taste, or they will be disallowed.
  10. Floats must be illuminated.
  11.  All floats that have participants tossing candy must have walkers accompanying the float.  Trailers under 16 feet must have 2 walkers.  Trailers in excess of 16 feet must have 4 walkers.  Walkers are required to wear an orange reflective vest.
  12. These rules are subject to change on short notice.  Failure to comply with the parade rules will result in unit member or entire unit (entry) removal from the parade and/or future participation banning..

Waiver and Agreement

I,                                                             , hereby release the City of Brandon from responsibility for injuries, physical or otherwise, incurred during and/or as a result of participation in the Christmas Parade and related activities and I agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of Brandon, its officers, agents and employees from any and all claims or causes of action arising therefrom, including any claims or causes of action arising from the participation of any person under my direction, supervision and/or control.
